Orthodontist Mike Mizell
 Dr. Mike Mizell has been practicing orthodontics in Houston since June of 1990. In that time he has had the pleasure of helping to shape the faces and smiles of over 8,000 children and adults. Orthodontics is a passion for Dr. Mizell and he feels truly blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy the challenges and rewards that the profession offers. Without a doubt, he most enjoys the chance to develop relationships with so many wonderful people and families.Dr. Mizell grew up in Palestine, Texas, and graduated from Palestine High School in 1978. From there he went on to Austin and graduated with highest honors with a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas. Dallas, Texas, was the next stop for a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. Mizell spent two years practicing general dentistry in Dallas and teaching part time at Baylor College of Dentistry. He then decided orthodontics was his true calling and moved to Houston to attend The University of Texas Dental Branch Orthodontic Department. He received his specialist certificate in orthodontics in June of 1990. During all stages of his education, Dr. Mizell was awarded with numerous academic awards and named to many honorary societies. Dr. Mizell's education did not stop with his graduation from orthodontic school. He and his staff spend significant time every year attending continuing education seminars to be sure they stay on top of all the latest technologies and provide the highest quality of treatment.  Dr. Mizell has a long history of being involved in organized dentistry. He is an active member of The University of Texas Orthodontic Alumni, the American Association of Orthodontists, The Southwest Society of Orthodontists, The Greater Houston Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. He served as president of the Alumni organization and will serve as president of the Southwest Society in two years. In 2007, Dr. Mizell earned his Board Certified Specialist recognition from the American Board of Orthodontics.Dr. Mizell married Chris Chambers Mizell, from Dallas, in August of 1991. They have been blessed with two wonderful children, Carter and Caroline. He and Chris enjoy spending time coaching and watching their kids sporting activities and volunteering for various parent organizations. In his spare time, Dr. Mizell enjoys doing volunteer work for his church and other charitable organizations in addition to playing golf, hunting, and fishing. |
